There is no shortage of Czech musical talents, but the family ties between Antonín Dvorák and Josef Suk (teacher and student, respectively, and later father and son-in-law) add something special when programming their music together. Dvorák was so impressed with Suk’s piano quartet when he submitted the piece as a class assignment, Suk soon numbered it as his Op. 1. It will be a special experience to listen to Dvorák’s celebrated Piano Quintet side by side with his favorite student’s highly successful Piano Quartet, Op. 1.
