The University of Oregon is hosting the Eugene regional competition of the 2025 Oregon Civics Bee, a statewide civics competition for middle school students.
Part of the National Civics Bee initiative, the program challenges Oregon’s 6th, 7th, and 8th graders to engage in their communities, deepen their understanding of American democracy, and propose solutions to local issues.
Student finalists were selected based on original essays identifying a community problem and proposing a solution rooted in founding principles and civic virtues. At the Eugene event, these finalists will compete in a quiz-style round and present their ideas to a panel of judges. Top performers will advance to the state finals in Salem this spring, with the state winner earning a spot in the National Civics Bee Championship in Washington, DC this fall.
The Oregon Civics Bee is presented by Oregon Business & Industry, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and U.S. Bank.
