Name: Radio Redux 'Wizard of Oz' ~ Hult Center for the Performing Arts
Date: February 12, 2016
Time: 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM PST
Event Description:
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz!  Radio Redux will explore the adventures in Oz with Dorothy and her friends during a live radio theater adaptation of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz".

Radio Reduxs version is a new take on what people are used to seeing in "Oz" productions, says Radio Redux' founder and producer Fred Crafts. The adventure stays the same, Dorothy, Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man escape peril after peril along the Yellow Brick Road. We tell the story with voices, sound effects and music.

L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel concerns a young girl, Dorothy (played by Jane Brinkley), who has been transported to the Land of Oz but who wants desperately to get back home to her Aunt Em (Judi Weinkauf) and Uncle Henry (Dan Pegoda) in Kansas. The only person who can truly help Dorothy succeed is the Wizard of Oz (Don Aday), but first he insists that she do away with the Wicked Witch of the West (Rebecca Nachison). Helping Dorothy are a Tin Man who wants a heart (Bill Hulings), a Cowardly Lion who wants courage (Achilles Massahos) and a Scarecrow who wants a brain (Sandy Silverthorne). At her side is her little dog Toto (Kim Donahey). Advising Dorothy is Glinda the Good Witch (Diana Aday).

Besides an entertaining show, patrons can experience, and explore,  a lively, free, illustrated behind-the-show talk by radio-film historian Patrick Lucanio, 45 minutes before show time in the Hult Center's lobby.
